The Kissing Hand GLU Kit was designed to help children with transitions, including the first day of school or child care, and to assist families in discussing their love and traditions. Activity ideas encourage the discussion or development of family traditions, address how to extend family traditions to other settings, talk about family love, and discuss the power of stories to comfort and bolster children. For example, toddlers will be engaged by the puppet show, plays and discussions about animals while adaptations would work well with 1st and 2nd graders hearing about Chester’s first day of school and his mother’s love. Everyone loves a good story! As with all Growing, Learning, Understanding (GLU) kits, activities are meant to be adaptable for a variety of ages and levels. Please utilize proven research and information regarding the development of young children, along with careful observation and understanding of your own children, to choose and adapt activities appropriately.
